One of the primary drivers for many home-growers is the sureity of knowing exactly how the vegetables have been treated before they arrive on your plate. Even organic farmers' crops are sometimes exposed to pesticides through neighbouring fields being sprayed - something that isn't a problem to many terrace farmers! And much worse than that, as the above headline shows, is what could have entered your food through the soil - with plants taking up metals such as arsenic which will then enter your body.

Knowing what is in your soil and being able to only use organic pest control on your own food is very empowering.
